IaKom selects the research methods for each project in such a way that the best possible basis for decision-making can be created with the available resources. This includes both qualitative and quantitative methods.

Data collection

IaKom's repertoire includes quantitative surveys and content analyses with experimental and non-experimental designs. Furthermore, we apply qualitative methods of document analyses, expert interviews, focus group discussions, real-time response measurements (RTR), Delphi surveys and guided interviews.

Analysis

Our expertise in the field of analytical methods extends to various elaborate statistical procedures. The basic analysis methods include table analyses and graphical representations of distributions and characteristic values of empirical data. Since the world is not monocausal, explanations for phenomena of interest are analysed using multivariate statistics. These include regression analyses to explain individual phenomena, structural equation modelling (SEM) to resolve more complex relationships and multi-level analyses (e.g., comparisons between countries or language regions). As the effects of campaigns or political discourse only develop over time, IaKom also works with growth curve models and time series analyses.
